8DH – Publishing on the Web

Hello,

My Year 8 classes have been learning about the internet and how it works.

I explained to the pupils that the internet is just like a big spiders web. All computers are connected together, with bigger computers (servers) storing most of the information. All devices are linked together by the world wide web (created by the British knight Tim Berners-Lee). This means we can access information and data about almost anything you can think of!

I asked the pupils to draw for me what they think the internet ‘looks like’. I love the results.

Well done Year 8. Wonderful work.

Bye for now, and remember, I.C.T. is EVERYWHERE!

The Beginning

Hello,

I am Ben Dlugokecki, an I.C.T. teacher in a fantastic SEN school in Winchester  called Osborne School. The school is full of inspiring pupils who create fantastic I.C.T. work. My ‘I.C.T. is EVERYWHERE’ blog aims to showcase my pupils achievements, and to share good ideas with other teachers. My pupils love their work and are proud of what they have learnt, my aim is that their parents and loved ones will be able to read my blog and see their work for themselves.

As all I.C.T. teachers are aware, there are many changes coming to our curriculum – coding, programming and computer science is completely back on the agenda. How does that fit into a school like mine? Where do we take I.C.T. from here? With the introduction of new technologies (iPads), a new curriculum (Jan 2013) and I.C.T. not having to be taught as a stand alone subject (now!) I thought today was a good point to start my blog. Please check in from time to time to see where we are!
